Insights into Ego

Whats the deal with the ego? I always believed that it was just some popular term in phycology class that my proffessor used to throw around. But I have come to realize that its one of those concepts you think you understand, but you really have to learn through experience. Anyone can say "sure i know what the ego is." But do they really know to what extent it affects them in thier everyday life? Thats the part you have to experience, so then you get the (OooooH, now i understand) feeling. You see to me the ego is everything that is self-denigrating as well as just denigrating in general . Its any mental state of fear, judgement and insecurity. It is our mask of self-importance that we show to the world. It is what is wrong with the world today in my opinion. Tangent time! I dont believe that people are be born evil right of the bat. I think it is a process that starts out in early childhood. You see, when you are a child, you come as pure as you can possibly be. Children approch the world with innocence and humility, but what happens when you experience an embarrassing or humiliating moment? The ego start to build up a wall to protect itself, the strength of this wall is dependent on how intense the bad experience was. For example take an poor kid with a scar across his cheek. That kid goes through the early part of his childhood just like everyone else, not a care in the world, then he starts school. Here he starts being made fun of, they call him names like (ex. scarface) or some other cruel thing kids come up with. Through no fault of his own he starts feeling insecure about himself and his scar. From that day forth he will always be insecure about himself in that respect, untill he realizes that he doesnt have to be, untill he realizes that its just his ego holding him back from realizing his true self. Thats becoming self enlightened, a self that is not constrained by the ego, that has no need for the next fad or material thing. To realize that all he needs, is to live in the moment rather than in the past or future. The only real moment is the present. So i say to you all, Dont live inside of your ego's walls, break them down, realize that the only moment that counts is now in the present. Dont dwell in the past or future for they are too uncertain. Have a open mind, dont close it off because of ingrained past beliefs. Take what is good from all things and use it to make up your OWN ever evolving mind! Dont let some elses views and opinions become your truths. YOU and only YOU know who you are and who you can become.

I love all you mofo's

no, just a collection of thoughts and ideas that came to climax with an epiphany that goes much deeper than what was written.
