Whats the deal peeps. I know I have been MIA lately. Dont worry I will be back with somthing new soon. In the mean time, here is an update on coaching flag football. My team is coming along nicely. We had our third game in 5 days and we currently stand at 0-3. But its cool cause these games are basically preseason since everyone makes the darn playoffs. So we let the kids now that there is no pressure and that we are just going to tweak the strategy throughtout the regular season so they can be ready to go come playoffs. We have not been able to practice much due to horrible game schedules by the commissioners office. We had a game on Saturday and then Monday and Tuesday. Thursday will be the first practice since the first game. Let me tell you that now that I have seen my team and its pros & cons, I will be drilling all practice long. We need to work on a couple things. The first Game was ok, we did not capitalize on goaline situations going 1-3, but the defense played decent. Final score 8-6, they got a two point conversion and we missed it. The Second game was against the orange team which appear to have the white reincarnation of barry sanders. The kid can flat out run, and has that ability to change directions without loseing any speed. They beat us 21-7 but it was not as bad as the score makes it seem. Thats the best team in the leauge right now and they all have been playing together for years. The team is progressing quickly. Yesterday was the 3rd game and the best defensive wise. They scored on an error by one of my safteys. I had instructed him to stay in his zone to avoid any chance of the runner cutting back to the open side of the field but he bit towards the middle and sure enough the runner cut back and took it to the house. But that was it for them. Nothing more than three and outs for the rest of the game. I blitzed the shit out of that team with my corners and they had no answer. Unfortunately the offense continues to struggle in the red zone and we missed a couple chances to score. But the key is the progression of the kids. Its like nite and day since the first time we worked with them. Things are definitly looking positive.
