Close minded people and the sad but true outcome.
Have you ever gone through the experience of haveing tons of friends in your network, to one day coming to the realization that your network looks like the rival network portrayde on the Verizon wireless comercials. I am sure the feeling sucks. I mean you were once a person with connections to everyone, everywhere you went and suddenly its gone. Well thats sort of what happens to closed minded people in my opinion. If they dont see eye to eye with someone for some reason, they just burn the bridge. I known plenty of people like this, including myself. I must say that I believe I have gotten alot better but I tend to fall back on my old ways sometimes with some people. The key to getting better though is to realize they way you are. Let me probe the mind of such individuals by giving thier main view of the subject.
Ex.
"Someone did such and such to me, why should I try to fix the relatationship if they dont."This is the common type of response or main train of thought of the persons I am refering too. I know there are people out there that really suck, and I am not implying that you try to do something about those type of people, but if its an old or close friend, and if all of it comes down to some type of misunderstanding which is usually the case, then I think that this train of thought is just a way to self-inflict problems and pain into your life. I have had a couple occasions where this has happend to me and have tried to fix it, but it was like talking to a wall. To top it all off, I make the mistake of getting very angry due to the frustration it brings. I dont understand how to break down those walls of iron clad will! How do you show what you truely mean when you dont have the means or the audience to do it? Thats the million dollar question. I will have to get back to you guys when i figure it out. I will end this by saying that people need to experience life and what other people (friends) have to offer, and you cant do that if you are living inside of your self-erected iron wall enclosure. If you dont you are most likely to suffer a long lonley life behind the iron clad door of your ego.

Well in life.. There's bound to be problems like this one.. In my perception.. Close-minded people.. Are hard to open up to.. It take time and patience.. Though it maybe like like talking to walls.. But it beats better than to have a very close friend drifting away from u.. And the worse thing is you don't even know why..
right on the money. Thats why i dont stop trying. It may be a little late but I am still there. Its basically a lack of patience that turns into a frustrating mess.
While I'm inclined to agree with you, I also think that successful relationships are built on the idea of reciprocity. Simply put: the love, consideration and friendliness shown by one person should be met by the other person. If it's not, then you're wasting your time trying to build, maintain, or restore relationships.
At least, I think so anyway...
But what if after doing so much for a friend and one don't appreciate it.. well i guess its back to square one again.. Well life's a tough nut to crack.. so I guess its just about moving on and on..
Kath,
As I mentioned before, I think that friendship should be about "give and take". Anything less than that is not worth your time...
